How to Object
There has been limited consultation on this planning application and we believe a development of this scale requires full and proper consultation with the local people it directly affects. We believe the communication from Wakefield Council and the developer has all been about a rugby stadium, but this proposed development is 250 acres and the rugby stadium is less than 4% of the total proposed development.
It is important that as many objection letters as possible go to the planning department (and you should send copies to your local councillor). Objection letters are the only way to influence whether or not this development goes ahead.

Please think about:
- Increased traffic congestion at J30 going north and south. This will increase the gridlock already experienced at the major M1/ M62 motorway junction at peak times (already one of the busiest junctions in the country).
- Massive increase in Heavy Goods Vehicles and cars along Aberford Road, Watergate, the A642 and beyond. Inappropriate use of country roads, not designed for heavy volumes of traffic.
- Increase in noise, traffic, litter and pollution. This proposal is an environmentally irresponsible project, which totally contradicts the Governments green policies & carbon foot print agenda.
- Potential serious flooding for Methley & Castleford from additional volumes of surface water & sewage draining into the River Calder.
- Destruction of Green Belt land, public footpaths & public rights of way. Destruction of one of the only remaining open areas available for dog walking, cycling etc…in this area. Loss of thousands of trees, hedgerows, good agricultural land & loss of wildlife.
- This development is a direct contradiction to Wakefield’s own Unitary Development Plan, which is a Government approved document. The council has a duty of care for Green Belt and development should only take place in very exceptional circumstances.
- This huge industrial park is a totally inappropriate development in the Green Belt.
